Privacy Policy and Disclaimer

Version of 22 October 2026

1. General provisions

1.1. This Privacy Policy and Disclaimer (the “Policy”) governs the processing and protection of information about the users (the “User”) of the lumus.uk website, the LUMUS FreePvP 1.5.2 PW game server, the launcher and all related services (collectively, the “Project”).

1.2. The Project is a non-commercial fan initiative that does not seek profit and is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by the right holders of the game Perfect World. All trademarks and intellectual property belong to their respective owners.

1.3. By registering, signing in or otherwise using the Project, the User confirms that they have read and understood this Policy and unconditionally accept all of its terms. If the User does not agree with any provision of this Policy, they must refrain from using the Project.

1.4. The Project administration (the “Administration”) may amend this Policy unilaterally. A new version takes effect upon its publication on this page. Continued use of the Project constitutes acceptance of the version in force.

1.5. The Project is operated from the Province of Nova Scotia, Canada, and is not directed at users of any particular country. This Policy has been prepared with regard to the principles of the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). The Administration of the Project is responsible for the processing of information.

2. Information processed

2.1. The Project does not request the User’s name, e-mail address, telephone number, payment details or any other information that directly identifies a person. Only the following is processed:

  • account credentials: login and password. The password is stored solely as a salted cryptographic hash (Argon2id) and as a derived key required by the game client protocol. The plain-text password is never stored and is not available to the Administration;
  • information supplied by the third-party sign-in service chosen by the User (Telegram, Discord, Steam, Twitch): the account identifier within that service and its public display name. The Project neither requests nor receives access to messages, contacts, friend lists, e-mail addresses or any other data of such a service;
  • the invitation code used at registration;
  • messages sent to the Administration through the “Contact” form and the replies to them;
  • technical information: the IP address from which the account was registered (stored with the account), IP addresses, dates and times of sign-ins and sign-outs, and server log records in which the IP addresses of requests are recorded;
  • game information: characters, their property and progress, in-game actions and in-game chat messages, to the extent necessary for the operation of the game server.

2.2. The website uses a single cookie, “lang”, which stores the selected interface language (retention: one year). This cookie is necessary to provide a function requested by the User. No advertising, analytics or tracking cookies are used.

3. Purposes of processing

  • creating and maintaining the account and granting access to the game;
  • limiting the number of accounts per person and keeping track of invitation codes;
  • ensuring the security of the Project and preventing abuse, automated registrations, password guessing and network attacks;
  • enforcing the game rules, resolving disputes and restoring data after failures.

Information is processed on the basis of the User’s consent, given upon registration and use of the Project, and solely to the extent necessary for the purposes stated above. User information is not sold, is not shared for advertising purposes and is not used for profiling or automated decision-making.

4. Disclosure to third parties

4.1. In the course of operating the Project, information is processed using the infrastructure of the following independent parties acting under their own terms: the hosting provider (OVHcloud); Cloudflare, Inc. (the content delivery and protection network through which requests to the website pass); the sign-in service chosen by the User; Google Fonts (delivery of page fonts); Telegram (the sign-in button script). The servers of these parties may be located outside Canada, and information may be accessible to the authorities of the respective countries in accordance with their laws. The Administration does not control and is not responsible for the processing of information by such parties.

4.2. Any other disclosure takes place solely upon a lawful request of competent authorities or to protect the rights, property and safety of the Project and its Users.

5. Retention and deletion

5.1. Information is retained for as long as the account exists. Logs and backups are retained for a limited period and are overwritten on rotation.

5.2. The User may request access to and correction of the information held about them, withdraw consent to processing (which makes further use of the account impossible), and request the deletion of their account by contacting the Administration through the “Contact” form on the Project website. Requests are handled within thirty days. The User may also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca). Deletion of the account is irreversible and results in the loss of characters and in-game property. Certain records may persist in backups until they are overwritten as scheduled.

6. Security measures

The Administration takes reasonable organisational and technical measures to protect information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), cryptographic password storage, request rate limiting, firewalling, automatic blocking of brute-force attempts, restricted access to administration tools, regular backups and software updates.

7. Disclaimer of liability

7.1. The Project, the website, the launcher, the game server and all related services are provided on an “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” basis, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including without limitation warranties of uninterrupted, error-free or secure operation, fitness for a particular purpose and preservation of data.

7.2. The User acknowledges that no system connected to the Internet can be made absolutely secure. The Administration uses all reasonable efforts to prevent and stop unauthorised access, but does not and cannot guarantee that hacking, leakage, interception, alteration, destruction or loss of information will not occur.

7.3. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Administration, the Project participants and persons assisting the Project shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, loss of profit, loss of data, accounts, characters or in-game property, non-pecuniary damage or any other adverse consequences arising out of or in connection with:

  • unauthorised access by third parties (hacking) to servers, databases, the website or accounts;
  • leakage, disclosure, interception, alteration or destruction of information;
  • acts or omissions of the hosting provider, Cloudflare, sign-in services or any other third parties;
  • hardware and software failures, errors, service interruptions or rollbacks of game data;
  • malware, phishing and other fraudulent acts of third parties;
  • acts or omissions of the User, including the use of a weak password or the same password on several resources, disclosure of credentials to third parties, or loss of control over a third-party sign-in account;
  • force majeure, acts of public authorities, or discontinuation of the Project.

7.4. The User is responsible for keeping their login, password and third-party sign-in account secure. All actions performed using the User’s credentials are deemed to have been performed by the User.

7.5. The Project is free of charge. In-game items, currency, characters and accounts have no monetary value, are not the property of the User and are not subject to compensation.

7.6. The Administration may at any time and without prior notice suspend or discontinue the Project in whole or in part, modify game data, or restrict or terminate the User’s access to the Project.

7.7. Should an incident affecting User information be identified, the Administration will take measures to mitigate its consequences and, where the incident creates a real risk of significant harm, will notify the Privacy Commissioner of Canada and Users through the official channels of the Project.

7.8. Nothing in this Policy excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including liability for wilful misconduct and fraud.

8. Age restriction

By using the Project, the User confirms that they are at least sixteen years of age or act with the consent of their legal guardian.

9. Final provisions

9.1. If any provision of this Policy is held invalid, the remaining provisions remain in full force; such provision shall be applied to the maximum extent permitted by law.

9.2. The English version of this Policy is the governing version; translations are provided for convenience. In the event of any discrepancy, the English version prevails.

9.3. Questions concerning this Policy should be addressed to the Administration through the “Contact” form on the Project website.

9.4. This Policy is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Nova Scotia and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of the Province of Nova Scotia.
